Scalby Village
is on the northern edge of Scarborough and has Inns and shops amid
chocolate box surroundings. A short drive takes one to the glorious
Scarborough sea shore and amenities. Historic Whitby is half an
hour away and the North York Moors National Park is on our village
boundary.
Scalby and Scarborough
boast many beauty spots in the immediate locality, together with
a host of amenities. Scarborough's golden sands stretch around the
twin bays and lead to the charming harbour, fishing port and the
famous Spa. There are plentiful shops and historic buildings to
explore on foot, at the same time taking in the breathtaking scenery.
This area has lots of opportunity for walking, whether your taste
is a gentle stroll or a challenging hike. There are plenty of good
pubs and restaurants too.

For those wishing
to enjoy the North York Moors and surrounding area, Robin Hood's
Bay, an old smuggling village, and Captain Cook's Whitby are both
within twenty miles. To the west, picturesque Pickering, the start
of the North Yorkshire Steam Railway is well worth a visit. Take
the road across Fylingdales moor between Pickering and Whitby and
follow the signs to Goathland and nearby villages to see the locations
featured in the TV series Heartbeat'.
Castle Howard,
Sledmere House and Nunnington Hall are all a short drive away. One
hour's motoring brings you to York, our famous mediaeval walled
city with it's ancient streets, shops, Minster and host to the Yorvik
Viking Centre and National Railway museums.Scalby is an excellent
base from which to enjoy coast and country.
